About the school
Sau AK Joshi English Medium School is a co-educational school founded by Dr V N Bedekar in 1976 and run by Vidya Prasak Mandal. The objective of the school is to develop the all-round personality of students, and to never give up while working hard to achieve success.

Innovative teaching
The school has built a mathematics and science laboratory. A project that was created in the science laboratory called Hydrophonic, was selected as the best project in Maharashtra under the Natural Children Science Congress. Hydrophonic is a new technique of growing plants without soil, using water and a supportive. This same project is now in the National Science Club of China. Latest educational aids like LCD projectors, play ways methods, smart boards and Internet have been introduced for the benefit of the students.

Other activities
Parliament members for different min-istries are elected in the school every year. The home ministry has a discipline min-istry, which looks after the discipline of the school, the foreign ministry gives information on different countries and the cultural ministry is in charge of cultural festivals. There is also an opposition formed to debate on this so as to implement the best suggestion.

Various facilities
An ex-students association has also been formed, wherein former students help the current students. For instance, those students who are now doctors hold camps to make sure that the students are in good shape. Some others hold guest lectures for the current students.
The school scouts and guides received a boost when the scouts took part in the Rashtrapati Puraskar, a national level exam. Five students received certificates and medals by the then president Shri Abdul Kalam.

Sports activities
The students take an active part in athletics, cricket, chess, table tennis, carom etc. Most of them also take part in interschool games. In fact students are also given en spcialised coaching for these events and grounds are hired when necessary. Sixteen students have represented the school at state level, eight represented the state at the national level, and two have represented the country.

Vital value additions
Paren t t eacher meetings are given vital importance in this school and meetings are held every month. Most suggestions are implemented after a meticulous discussion and healthy debate.

Head girl
The head girl Niharika Milind Mungale, a student of this school from Jr KG says that due to the correct guidance of the school authorities, she knows how to behave in society and also knows what her values are. According to her two of the best things are the field trips conducted by the school and the clubs formed where each student can pursue their favourite subject.

Head boy
Gandhar Milind Suryavanshi represents the school in sports like football and cricket, as well as handles the parliament. He helps the ministries by interacting with the various ministries and finding out the improvements to be brought about He says be is proud to be in a school where the concept of knowledge is wealth and is actively pursued both inside as well as outside the school walls. He further adds that having specialized teachers for specific subjects is of great help.
