Nurturing brotherhood @ school

An eleven-year tradition of tying rakhis by the special children to the normal ones and vice versa was once again witnessed this year at Sri Ma Vidyalaya. It was heartwarming to see children sit down in rows with thalis to smear the ritualistic tilak, tie the rakhi and feed peda to the 'brother'.

From being the first school that started at Kopri in 1996with twenty-five students, the school today proudly holds about two thousand students on its rolls. On this auspicious day, eight schools and eighty students got together at Sri Ma Vidyalaya, Ghodbunder Road , at the Hiranandani Complex to participate in the ritual of tying 'Rakhis' to each other. Though a few schools did not participate, with exams around the corner, the excitement among the young children present was galore.

citement on their faces was a pleasant sight indeed, especially as they rushed to sit down forming tows opposite each other. The teachers and the staff did a good job of managing so many students at a time as well as maintaining discipline in the school premises.
